Question about front end noise (long)
yeah, i have this clicking under the front end when I go over bumps too. It's driving me nuts. Drive a new jeep that sounds like an old clunker. I've had people tell me the u joints might be bad, but I don't know how to tell if they are or not. They don't move or shift by hand, or even look slightly worn, and my 2010 only has 4700 miles on it. I've tweaked, tightened, shifted, shook, and checked everything I possibly could under there, and nothing. I've even asked a couple of people if they will drive it over a bump or two reallys slow, while I hold on to the bottom, for about 8 feet, but no takers. I'm gonna keep looking, and if I find anything at all, I'll let you know.
Just got my Jeep back from the shop for a front end noise (metal on metal) when going over bumps and knocking in the steering wheel. They replaced the Outer drag link jointend and the Lower intermediate shaft. Doesnt seem the noise is there anymore
i have a 07 jk, i have this hump in the driveway from a colvert, as i back over it i sometimes get a noise like your talking about or sometimes if i go where the suspention will articlate alot. i have looked at things and shaken things and cant find anything.
Yup i have this same problem whole front end feels like an old junker going over bumps and i have checked everything more than once. I feel your pain. This is driving me crazy that i cant find the culprit. So far i am thinking it has to be the drag link and tierod causing this noise and loose feeling over bumps. And its more noticable going slow.
