Time to buy a rear diff cover. I'm thinking aluminum because I hate rust but not sure that's a good idea. Any suggestions for best cover that won't rust or should I avoid aluminum covers?

If it's just the issue of rust you're concerned with & not the extra strength of some of the aftermarket covers just pull the old one off, strip it back, & properly undercoat it & repaint with black (or another color) anti-rust paint. They come from the factory with just the slightest dusting of black paint and rust real easy, but after I re-painted mine properly myself there isn't a spot of rust on it 2 years later.

It's time for a fluid change so I'm looking to upgrade at the same time. Wasn't sure if the aluminum ones like G2 hold up. If I can avoid the rust its a big plus to me. I'm disappointed with how quickly powder coated parts rust.

Solid diff covers are great, heavy duty and priced right. Less than a $100

Stay away from aluminum unless it is a street only rig.

ok thanks, I was wondering if aluminum would hold up on the trail. I really wanted to go that route but wasn't sure if it was smart. What is the problem with aluminum off-road? Denting versus cracking/breaking I would assume?

Anyone else have any thoughts on aluminum covers?
