Recon 10500lb Waterproof Winch--Anyone own--Comments
Just curious if anyone has this Recon Winch or any other Recon winches and if they have had good luck with them.
$430 with synthetic line
I know there have been lots of winch questions...just have not seen many comments on this one.
Thanks
Joe

Ive run their lights on a one ton dually. Had all my lights transferred over to their smoked LEDs. The cab lights leaked like a siv and had to be silliconed, the fender markers quit working at the connectors and I had to hard wire them in (design flaw in their connectors). Tail lights and 3rd brake light were great.
50/50 review on them for light quality from me. And lights are their main products, so reflect that onto their winch line-up as you will.
The lights all LOOKED great when they were all working though...

just unboxed it and it sure is solid ... whew. Anyhow it comes with a wireless and wired remote and for 349.00 Why not?
I have recon everything on my dodge and it's all been good for 6 years now??

I have read nothing but good reviews on a few other forums and some others that don't pertain to the Jeep crowd. I read one review where a guy had one on his Farm truck that he throttled the hell out of it with a load of logs in the back of his chevy. he was sunk to the rails and it was a do or die situation so he figured burn it up or clear the trail to get his tractor in. The thing still works fine year later. That sold me

Install went smooth, I spooled out some line and winched my buddies JKU up the hill and I am more impressed with the Fab Fours bumper. Zero deflection when loaded . I had him load up the Jeep by riding the brakes a bit and the winch did not care at all. The wireless remote is nice as a convenience but the lag could get you in trouble far away. The wired remot has plenty of line for me to stand on the rear bumper and do some XTREME trick winching LOL

Looks good! The only thing you would need to keep an eye on are those threaded bolts that hold the control box at the top of the winch. Looks like the rope could get caught up on one of those bolts when pulling at an angle. The rope will tend to bunch on one side of the winch when pulling at an angle.

After humming and hawing for a while, I pulled the trigger on this one toady. I was between the Superwinch Epi9.0s (around $1000), and this one ($429). In the end I couldn't justify the massive price difference and went with this one. I will post pics up when it arrives in a few weeks. Looking forward to it!
