He charged $59 for the carrier, but you know shops sometimes mark parts up so you might find it cheaper if you know which one to get. I'll call Monday to find out. I agree, I hated spending $$$ on that Dana turdy.

I didn't really mind buying the carrier, just wish I'd known it ahead of time.

The guy knocked the tax off the install, so that almost offset the cost of the carrier.

I took my jeep in last Tuesday for lift/tires/gears/bumpers/winch and I was told yesterday (the day I was supposed to get it back) that the kit came with the "wrong" front diff gears! I said wrong? what gears did you order? they said that when they first contacted Superior they told him that my jeep had D30 front axle! This is rediculous.. I have never heard of such a thing! D44 Rears with D30 fornt?

Anyhow they now tell me that the correct gears shipped yesterday and will be installed Mon.

Definitly call superior on your own before you let any shop do the work. I picked my rig up a week ago Friday and took it right to the shop on last Tuesday. I WANT MY JEEP!

Hey Pumpkin, I wish I could give you some info... but the fact is I don't have much. At this time. I am the "screw'ee" and not the "screwer". I should know a little more Monday. All I know for a fact is, the 5.13's won't work in my 08 X Unlimited without a different carrier. I was told Jeep changed their carriers again. I'm guessing that means they changed from 07 to 08... if that's the case then I'm also guessing they used an 07 carrier ???. As far as I know people are running these gears in 07's. I'm not guessing when I tell you I'm more than a little ticked about the hidden costs $75 for the carrier and $60 for shipping plus what the shop is going to charge for their extra time. Not to mention I have been without my Jeep, Monday will start the 4th week.

Im not getting it? Are you being sarcastic about the Dana 30 front and 44 rear? What gears did they end up sending you?

Yeah if you could find out that would be great, hopefully the 07 carrier works, cause thats what I got . I definitely want to know everything ahead of time before I tear it apart cause it is my DD and I don't want to have it torn down and then have to wait on a new carrier. Guess I could just run it empty till then, but still, it would be more of a hassle.

I think the Shop screwed-up and ordered D30 gears, when I showed up there yesterday he side steped and said they (superior) sent the wrong one's, I am sure that he just ordered the wrong kit. If you order the kit for '08 D44 there should not be a problem.

Default Weird

OK, this is weird , but I think I remember hearing something about a shipment of gears from Superior that were bad, the teeth between the ring and pinion weren't fitting together right. Has anyone on this forum received these because I think I did. I took my JK down to 4Wheel Parts in Phoenix on Thursday to have my 5.13s installed and the front, D30 went in fine, the rear, D44 however wouldn't fit together at the correct tolerances . The mechanic tried several times with the same result, no go.

I seem to remember hearing that some of the Superior gears weren't made correctly. I got mine from Northridge4x4 earlier in the year, I'd say first quarter some time. Unfortunatly, they've been sitting on the floor of my garage waiting to be installed. Hopefully Northridge4x4 will take them back. I believe the retailers, as well as Superior, are aware of the situation. I'll find out Monday.

Hey Jasson,
Apparently the rears fit fine but the front would not (5:13) Also at 4wheelparts. I have a Sahara with D44 F/R.
What model do you have if you are running D30 up front? Do the "X" models have D30's in the front, if so that explains the mixup with mine..

Yep... The X comes stock with a D30 in front. I don't think there is a problem with the 44, front or rear.

My JK is an X. The problem with mine is the D44 rear. According to the shop the ring and pinion don't line up. I can't say what happened with yours unless like me you got a bad set of gears.

Are you sure? You should have a d30 unless you swapped in a d44. Rubi's are the only ones to get the front D44 from the factory.
