I just had the Dynomax installed and it sounds great. Engine runs better. Can't help with the technical question as I paid someone to do it.

Have to be careful with exhaust fumes getting inside the cab

I took mine off for a few weeks and it really didn't sound that good so I put a magma flow cat back exhaust on and it gave it a little more power an much better sound

The rustys exhausts aren't to expensive & give you good sound I know if you get rid of your catalytic converter more than likely you wont pass emissions in California & with the muffler off you may or may not get a introuble for noise pollution

I just installed mine as well (DYNOMAX SUPER TURBO CATBACK JK 3.6/3.8L 39510). I ran a few days without the muffler and even though it's nice and loud, when you down shift it makes a gurgling noise. My new Dynomax took care of that Real easy to put on, easier than taking the stock ones off.
