You "might" get a ticket, but I highly doubt it.
Soak your hangers and bolts before you run it, makes it easier to remove BTW.

Exhaust Noise and the Law California USA

Q1. Doesn't the VC require a muffler on every vehicle?

Yes. Section 27150 VC requires that every motor vehicle subject to registration be equipped with an adequate muffler. There are no exceptions -all vehicles must be equipped with a muffler, as defined in Section 425 VC. A turbocharger is not considered a muffler.

Did the DIY relocate using a Dynomax SS universal muffler. Removed the stock muffler, cut a length of the existing pipe (about 20 inches) out from underneath the left rear passenger floor wheel and clampled the Dynomax in place. All for about $100, an hour of time and a couple bent saws all blades. Doesn't qual for the rebate as its not a "complete" exhaust system. I asked the Dynomax rep on here tons of questions and they told me exactly what to do.

You should (if you haven't yet) post pics.
I liked your DIYer attitude too.

I removed mine quite easily with a little wd-40 and I bought a special tool on amazon for 18 bucks specially designed to remove exhausts from thier hangers, so worth it. Also when bolting up I used mega clamps instead of the cheap ass u style clamps, made a huge difference overall.
