Ripp Supercharger won't pass TX emissions
Man I'm bummed. I truly love my Ripp Supercharger.The power and torque are great. The problem is the tune has left several of my sensors in a "not ready" state. Here in Texas, I need those or can't pass inspection. I took it back to the mechanic who installed it. He contacted Diablo who said the do that to accommodate headers and such. Diablo sent a revised tune that was supposed to fix it but it didn't. My mechanic will go back to Diablo, but meanwhile I'm driving around illegal because my inspection expired. Bummer, bummer, bummer.
Unfortunately it isn't as easy as putting on the stock belt and tune. Their kit has bigger injectors and some other changes that I would have to undue too. At least that is my understanding from Ripp. I'll give them more time before reverting to the return to stock. Everyone from Ripp and Diablo have been good so far. Hopefully they can get it right. Like I said, the performance improvements are to die for.

I'm confused...driveability is great? But you are throwing codes? Thats odd, means its not a tuning or sensor issue....unless.... Do you know if mechanic did any sensor bypasses? Either per instructions, or on his own? Its the only thing i could think of that would half spoof the computer. Any way you look at it, its an odd problem to have. Gl and keep us posted
It's not throwing codes. There are several sensors that show not ready (like you have disconnected the battery and haven't driven enough to reset). I'm not sure how the Diablo software works around that state, but assume it assigns it's own values that don't show up on a stock OBD reader. Not sure though.
I just purchased my SC last week. I do not have it yet so I cannot speak from experience. I had read and asked this same question when I bought it. This is directly copied from Ripp's site
"Most notably should something ever go wrong with any mechanical part of the RIPP Supercharger kit, simply remove the longer serpentine belt supplied and powering the SDS, and reinstall your factory belt which takes minutes and your completely back to stock. This also comes in handy if you live in a state that require stringent emissions testing, simply take the SDS out of the loop and your back to stock. You will not have to reverse any other part of the fuel or electronics to do this, A FEATURE NONE of our competitors can boast."
Notice the part in RED. Like I said. I cannot vouche for this working but they make the statement on thier site. One of the reasons I went ahead and made the purchase. But not the main reason.
