roof racks
I went with the Gobi. I can't speak to the quality of the other racks, but the Gobi is legit. The biggest selling point for me was no drilling, that was I can bring it back close to stock if needed.
I really like the Kargo master rack that I got. I was able to find it on craiglist for a good price. Super solid. Had to modify the passengers side bracket to make it fit with the snorkel. Its a pain to put the top down if you have it on. Although it isn't an issue this time of year with the hard top, the front freedom panels still come off easy.
Anyone recommend a basket for these? I'm in the market for one of those now...
And i have the deflector for the rack if anyone is interested. It has two sections, depending on the height you want. I had it on for a bit, but didn't like the look of it. It did reduce the sound, but looked stupid in my opinion. Might look better with the basket on there.

Here are some poser pics of my Kargo Master Cage and Basket:

I love the Gobi but did not want to spend the dough. I am really digging that Trek rack. I was already thinking about modifying my rack with a ladder similar to that Trek rack... so that one gives me ideas. I was not happy with the original fit of the Kargo Master and the fact that you had to wrench these long ass bolts out of the front bars to tilt the top back for the operation of the soft top. I replaced the bolts with pins and like insanitize, I had to trim the right hand mounting bracket. The powder coating was jacked up too... so I gotta fix that. They messed up my mounting/assembly hardware too and I had to get about 35% of it re-shipped. I will say that Kargo Master was really apollogetic (especially after the F'd up the original request to re-ship the mounting/assembly hardware) and they shipped me a Hi-Lift Mount and a Basket mounting kit for free. I would also like to note that the prop bars they include with the cage do not tilt the rack back far enough to operate the top... so I am going to have to come up with a solution to that myself.
insanitize, have you had similar issues to report? I will say that I really like the looks and I have loaded that rack down with no issues. I am not crazy about the height it added to the Jeep (12") nor the deep whoooing sound I get above 40mph, but overall, I like it.

Because I have the PJ rear bumper I didn't use the mounting brackets I just drilled the bumper and mounted it to that and haven't seen any problems with that either.

I also cut the front pass side bracket to fit my snorkel[/QUOTE]
I'm curious how this mounts in the rear. I have a Smittybilt SRC rear bumper and rack that has tube that reach out to the rear wheel well covers. There is no surface to mount to there....just tubes. Does this somehow go under the body and mount to the frame? I really like the look of the Gobi rack but would like to make sure I can mount it without have to fab out some sort of bracket. Does anyone have a close up pic of how it mounts in the rear? Thanks!
This may be just what I've been trying to find for weeks now. Can anyone tell me how this thing mounts in the rear? It appears to mount directly to the rear bumper. I have an aftermarket bumper with no place to mount this so I'm hoping there are brackets that snake behind the flares...under the tub and to the frame. Any close up shots of how it mounts would help me a lot. Better yet, if the rear mounts can be built to spec, I'll buy one site unseen.

I am able to take the hard top off or on without any problems. If you have a soft top the rack Hinges over. see the picks on their website also. http://wildboarproducts.com/
