Default RR or aev snorkel?

I have enough cash to pick up the aev snorkel with the aev heat reduction hood...

Or the RR cowel snorkel

Help me out? What you think?

Also a major selling point for me would be if either one could fit the poison spyder crusher flares I want to purchase in the future

Thanks for your votes!

Snorkels. Sorry but they look stupid. Can't imagine that you'll get any benefit from it. Gonna ford some big rivers

If your compelled to get one the wild boar looks the best.

I currently have the aev snorkel and on my old Sahara I had an "el cheapo" snorkel off ebay..... SAME EXACT SNORKEL! Just the cheap one said wrangler jk instead of aev.... Thought it would be better, that's why I got the aev for my rubi.... Save ur money and buy the ebay snorkel for $100 and get the hood from aev.... Unless u want the name brand...... Just my 2 cents. Either way AEV over the RR any day!!!

I wish I would have waited for the RR snorkel. I got the eBay snorkel. Then again I wouldn't have been able to use my lower windshield lights (?)
I've been looking for inexpensive ways to go back to stick but I'll probably just have to save up for a new hood.
Originally I told myself I was protecting myself from hydrolocking- maybe..make sure to think it over good an hard. My 2 cents

A snorkel filters sand dust, which is abundant in deserts and some trails.
This is healthier for the engine and keeps the air filter clean much longer.
Also, the engine gets cooler air through a snorkel than from the hot engine bay.

The best pre-filter that I know of is the Donaldson TopSpin Pre-cleaner.
It filters much better than regular intakes, and it's self-cleaning.

I'm waiting for the Rugged Ridge modular snorkel for the '12 JKU.
Most of the time the low-mount intake is sufficient, looks better,
and is the easiest to return the Jeep to stock.

My thought is if I am buying the rugged ridge I can't return to stock. If I buy aev I'm buying the hood and wouldn't I just be able to take it off if I find i am no longer hitting trails with water?

My intention is not to find a river to cross but I live in some wetland areas and sometimes the mud and water is much deeper than I expected...

With the Rugged Ridge you can return to stock. They thought of it during the design stage. And, you could use the hood money for another mod.

However, the AEV snorkel & hood is a good idea too.
Be aware that this hood is sunk on top, so it drains into the engine bay and collects dirt.

Same in my area... I don't go fording water but I come across deep holes that I'd rather be prepared for... I cut my factory hood cuz I like the snorkel look, but if u buy the aev hood then yes u can remove and go back to stock if ur not wheelin no more.... And if ur hitting holes like me u miht wanna spent the extra 70 bucks and get the River Raider breather extention kit - http://www.riverraider.com/store/JK-...-Extension-Kit half hour install and we'll worth it!
