Yea it is my fault for not searching on this site to see what other people had to say. But the total point is if the company knew it was messed up they should have done somethign to fix it. Am I saying its the end of the world, NO, I just wanted to voice my opinion, since this is a forum, and see what others have done to fix the problem created by the company.

It does suck that there isn't a good solution to the passenger side relocation brackets, besides having to add a blind-spot mirror or fab up a mount. I think the mirror would stick too far out to the side if they made the bracket to where you could see the entire pass. side mirror with the door on. Just have a friend hold the mirror to the side of the Jeep while you sit in the driver's seat. Have him/her move the mirror out from the door mount location until you can actually see all of it. That far out, and the first time on a trail you are going to lose that mirror to the first Magic Jumping Tree Limb you encounter.

I knew that pass. side visability would be an issue, same as it was on my TJ. Didn't even bother putting the pass. side bracket on my JK when I got them. I knew it wouldn't work when I bought them. I never even took the pass. side bracket out of the box.

Look at it this way: It is a fairly inexpensive (relatively speaking) lesson. Next time, as others have said, just try searching on the forum for any feedback on something you plan on buying. Chances are, there are already several people here that have tried, loved, or hated whatever it is you are looking to buy.

This is what I do too. Works ok. I'm just worried about stripping the threads eventually but it's working for now.

I think the mirror would stick too far out to the side if they made the bracket to where you could see the entire pass.
Yep, and then people would complain that they stuck out too far. If it was back further, people would complain about the door/window hitting it, which would cause even more hurt feelings than not being able to see with doors on (and lots of threats to the mfg to fix the dents and scratches and broken glass).

The purpose of this type of bracket is to relocate for 'doors off driving', people need to deal with the drawbacks...

These are the same brackets that you can buy from Mopar so its not just rugged ridge. My solution is to never have my doors on. I can see the about half the mirror which gives me enough view. A little lean over gets me more mirror if I need it. I don't think its that big of a deal, I went with these knowing i woudln't be able to see much but I woudl rather have half a mirror i can see than smaller mirrors that shake like crazy that are completely useless all the time.

You know.......

I asked a Company rep about this, and ya know what he said??

He said he was "tired of listening to the bitching because all people have to do is read the directions and they'd know that the fix to this is to take the mirrors and swing the brackets FORWARD towards the hood instead of rearward. That way, the mirror will actually be IN FRONT of the A-post, in the same manner as the mirrors on a bus." I thought about that a minute and then thought about the "bus mirrors" on the fire engine I drive and said, "well, that makes sense. We do that on the engine all the time. That's how they are positioned regularly. It feels odd compared to driving my jeep, but it works just fine." THEN.....

I told him "I've been hearing about that problem for a long time....so I just went ahead and bought the DIE TECH's and I don't have to deal with that issue "

There ended the conversation.

Uh, I don't remember this in the directions for mine (and just double checked in the PDF online). They really need to release an updated version that has a smaller ID and is keyed like the factory mount also. That's what I'd do if it were my company anyway...

To my Jeep brother Redrockjeepr:
Rugged Ridge did not make a mistake when they made these. They were made exactly the way they were meant to be. To relocate the mirrors when you don't have the doors on. Do you miss a part of the passenger side mirror with the doors on...YES. Can you still use it...YES. Are you safe with these on your JK...That depends on you. The driver.

I don't have a rod in my spine that keeps me from checking over my shoulder before I change lanes. The same check I do in my classic mustang that has no mirror on the passenger side, my lifted truck that has both mirrors, or my Volvo, or my motorcycle. The same check they taught you in drivers ed. class.

I'm sorry you feel like it's a bad product. Please, Return them.
I like mine a lot. I have only taken the doors off once and I still have the rugged ridge brackets on everyday.

The Thing I ask for you to do next time you buy anything. Is make sure you understand what you are getting. No one is going to protect you from your decisions.

X2..I love the Die Tech's! Takes me about 2 to 3 minutes per side to install when my doors come off and I keep full visability.

The main reason I did not buy the RR brackets was because of the main issue discussed in this thread. I knew about the issue from a combination of reading the installtion guide on quadratec (I check every install manual I can before I buy something as I am not exactly mechanically inclined!) and from talking with people here. I guess it does suck if someone saw these on a whim and decided to buy them before they can do research. I'm sure it happens all the time but you can always return them!

Well, I installed the RR relocators today. Do I wish I read this thread first? You betcha ! I'll be putting the right side mirror back on the door. I don't drive with the doors off very often, and I can live without a right side mirror way more than no mirror on the left. I am a little disappointed, but live and learn I suppose. I'll be doing a search here on the forum before my next purchase

A couple of things though. For a permanent bracket, I see no reason a bracket can't be designed to be installed on the two bolts above the ones used now. I'm rather surprised that RR who obviously knows there is a design flaw with the existing bracket hasn't made what seems to me to be a pretty simple change.

I do like the Die Tech brackets http://www.dietechoffroad.com/produc...rorbracket.htm mounting to the hinge, keeping the same mirror geometry. The ideal situation would be to purchase a spare set of factory mirrors and leave them mounted to the Die Tech brackets, and keeping the original mirrors on the doors.

Or am I missing something?
