Default Update

So I just got back from getting my tires re-balanced. All were out a little and they got them zeroed in. However I hit the highway and I am still feeling it at 50+MPH I may just say fuck it and roll with it...... just a pain in the ass, always something
Once again this is no wobble, shimmy, shake or whatever others call it. It is def. some kind of vibration I am feeling. If anyone around the New Orleans area wants to take a ride and maybe help a brother out let me know.

They are at the shop getting balanced now. How many weights come on the Rear Driveshaft, I counted 4 earlier Also how hard is it to remove the front driveshaft? Any special tools? Thanks again.

Rear ds and frt ds weights depends on the amount it took to balance them. Do you see any spots whereone may have come off? Front ds- top flange bolts 8mm(rachet wrench works best) bottom flange 15mm socket or wrench.

I don't see any spots where a weight looks like it is missing.....

I may try to take the Front DS out tomorrow, we'll see. I put the lift on but I am a little leary of yanking those out myself. When you say top flange is that towards the front of the Jeep and bottom flange near the transfer case? Thanks again.

I think your next step may be rear upper control arms and get that pinion angle set.

Top flange( transfer case) Bottom flange (pinion)

Can you feel it in the steering wheel, or do you feel it more in the seat?

Also, you have an auto, the skid and crossmember need to come off to get to the TFcase flange bolts easier.
It's only 4 -18mm bolts to get it off.

Good idea, if that angle is not within a couple of degress, which yours is deffinitely not due to lift height and being two door, it will vibrate. Your going to want to get this taken care of asap before you blow up your transmission or grenade your driveshaft. The angle is so steep, its not your jeep or lifts fault, just pure geometry.

Going to try and remove the Front Driveshaft today and see if that is the problem. I took the Jeep on the highway after work this morning, I can feel it in the steering wheel slightly more in the Gas Pedal and none in the console. As soon as I hit 50MPH I feel it slightly, let off the gas and it goes away, back on the gas and I can feel it.

MKJEEP: What are the torque specs for the bolts on the front driveshaft? Also, can I keep the front driveshaft off for a few days to see?

Thanks Again

I do believe the pinion flange bolts (4) are 81ftlbs and the TF case (8) are 15 ftlbs. No prob leaving the frt ds off. If this isn't it, then it's most likely the rear. Those rezeppa joints are pretty forgiving when it comes to vibes, usually they start squalling first. Can u speed past the vibe or does it get worse, stay the same?
Also, you really can't get a torque wrench on those top bolts, 15ftlbs isn't much, just make sure you dab a little blue locktight when you put them back.

The vibe seems to stay the same once I hit speed. One last thing before I start, all I need to do is remove the 8-8mm bolts and the 4-15mm bolts correct? Leave the flanges and all other bolts alone? Also do I need to out the Jeep on jack stands or can I do it while all four tires on the ground?
