Personally, I opted for a hoop rather than a stinger. I like the look but I will not be doing anything extreme enough to actually need it, and I didn't want to be staring at it over the top of my hood all the time.
I run most of norcal's hardest trails. I don't run a stinger. I run a winch protection hoop. The risk of branch/rock damage to my Warn Winch is far greater than a forward roll - especially now that I run an Unlimited.

Stingers are 99% looks for people so go with what you like. Stingers also lengthen your jeep making fitting a garage more difficult. They will also do a lot more damage if you rear-end someone, potentially subjecting you to a HUGE lawsuit, assumming you're daily driving your rig.

Do you have any detail behind this ? I get it that we live in a land where anyone can sue for anything.

Let's say you rear end the back of a small vehicle or even t-bone them you automatically are going to cause a ton more damage than with the stock piece that was designed for the Wrangler. Depending on states laws this could be a huge problem with your insurance company and the authorities. You're taking a piece of off road equipment and placing it on a daily driven vehicle, it was never crash tested, or designed for daily on road use (tons of us do t anyway) but in a court of law you rear end a hatchback and kill the people in the back seat that full size stinger could be a humongous issue.

I love my stinger. Great for knocking down zombies. Thinking it might also be good for knocking people off their bikes too. More points for knocking them off but not knocking the bike over.

I have the RR XHD Modular. I love the look of it, and also because I do frequent areas where a front roll is possible! Hopefully, I never have to need it in that situation. Personally, I love how it also seems to freak some people out.. They quickly change lanes, or slow down and get a better look. Sometimes I want to tap the rear window of cars where people aren't paying attention, or jabbin away on their cell phones. >:/

I think they look cool, and had a smittybilt installed for 3 days and am now in the process of selling it.
It looked cool and got a lot of attention.
But i could not live with my self if i hit another vehicle and my choice to have a stinger resulted in a death or serious injury.
On the road i think it's not a good idea. When i eventually get the jeep to the point where it gets trailered. Then i will get one.
For now i am going to get teh smittybilt XRC modular bumper so i can add a stinger on later.
just my $.02
