I just got the side armor/side steps from Rugged Ridge and they work really well. They function great as a side step...and a place to kick the snow off your boots in the winter. They also deter people from dinging my doors seeing as how it would do more damage to their vehicle. They are very strong...I can stand and jump on them and they don't budge at all. Very good product, very well designed, look great on the Jeep. I recommend them. They cost approximately $500 and that was with shipping to Canada.

I used to live in a small town named DeRidder which is about 12 miles from Ft. Polk. The only good thing about Ft.Polk is the trails made by the track vehicles. The ranges are open and if you don't see the red flag your good to go. If you go riding beware of the deep holes, remember M2/M3 are ones making the trails.

On your question. I have the body armor rock sliders and they work perfect for a step. We are a short family and they work well enough. Under $300 also.

The stirrup is a cool idea. My wife's plan for when she is prego is to get one of those roll up fire ladders, cut it down to fit in the jeep and just use that.

The closest "major city" to Fort Polk would have to be Alexandria.
