Is it just me or this a great skid plate? Covers both the transfer case and the oil pan. Made by M.O.R.E., and right now, its 20% off. I am also getting the Kilby evap relocation kit...

What more skid protection would I need?

Sometimes I wish I didn't have the huge SkidRow engine/tranny skid and sometimes I do. Like today, I just finished flushing my tranny and filling it up. I had to remove the skid (not entirely, I let it hang there with the 2 forward mounts acting like hinges), just to get to the drainplug because if I didn't remove it, the fluid will just pool on top of the skid. The bolts are rounded off because of wheelin', it was a PITA to remove. Had to loosen the t-case skid to pivot it out of the way, etc. Then, when it was all said and done, had to realign and bolt everything up again. When metal gets mangled and bolts get rounded, it's a PITA.

But then, when I do wheel, since I'm a believer in low COG, I have a TF 2.5" lift and 35s. So, I drag on quite a few of things. Before I had the skid, I got caught on the crossmember SOO many times. Now, it just slides off the engine/tranny skid. Helps a lot in sliding off rocks instead of having to back up and pick a different line.

I have the complete rock hard kit thanx to Dave at Northridge4x4, I will say they add alot of weight to the JK. I know some of them I won't even scrape on the rocks however one time is all it took for the gas tank skid and it needed to be beat out. one reason I got the rockhard. Yeah the oil pan hangs low but that never seemed to be a problem for me it was always the rocks I went over the tires with. Now I am curious as to what my rig weighs with all the stuff and one thing I may end up doing is if I can ever make it to URE and do Daniel a few times any skid that isn't touched will be removed. It was one of those things I don't know why I got it but had to have because I thought I needed it. Just like a locker but I know I don't really need one because I am only home 2 weeks every 6 months to enjoy my relaxation, and there is alot of things to do durring the time your home and so little time to do them. I was able to enjoy two weekends in URE which I was really happy about. But for the Skids I would say if you don't mind spending the Franklins or the extra weight and just to have a piece of mind knowing the just incase moment you are protected go for it, now if there are other things you can spend your money on and need like the SC flashpaq or other brand get that first, or some good recover equipment like a winch or other stuff and take your wife out to a good place to eat.....

X about 7 on that. Atlas says the stock skid will work, but... The Atlas requires a bit more maintenance than the stock and the River Raider is the only skid I've found that allows the transfer case skid to be removed without dropping the engine/transmission skids too.
