Slave cylinder or master
I have a 2012 manual trans. Went in deep mud now doesn't want to shift into gear without a little effort.
Changed all fluids. Works a little better. Not much gunk or water in any of the fluids.
Checked at the trans. For leaks of the hose for what I assume is for the clutch.
Checked under the good at the brake resivor for leaks and all is well. Fluid is full
So where or what is the master or slave cylinder?
Is it the brake resivor?
How do clean or bleed the system?
With clutch in, gear in first it still wants to move forward. Not with force but seems like it is not fully disengaging or vice versa.
Any help would be great

Don't know how to bleed the system, but I know the brakes and clutch share fluid and reservoir.
That's why there are so many lines coming off the master cylinder reservoir

Master cylinder is actuated by movement of the clutch pedal, it provides hydraulic pressure to the slave cylinder, which moves the clutch. The bleed port should be located on the slave cylinder. With all that said, I doubt your problem is with either. You said you got into deep mud, if you pressed the clutch in, then you probably got mud inside the clutch assembly between the pressure plate, disc, and flywheel. Getting mud inside the clutch between the friction components is a bad thing, and why it is a good rule of thumb not to press the clutch in when you're in deep mud. Take off the inspection plate on the bell housing and have a look inside--betting it won't be a pretty picture....
Thanks guys
With getting under neath and spraying inside the bell housing and under neath the hood it now goes into gear like butter. Like it used to. Reverse is still a little force but must have freed up the mud in the clutch assembly. It now chatters a bit when letting clutch out before it grabs but I think it still may be wet and is braking that mud up.

The inspection plate is on the bottom of the bell housing. Held on by four (IIRC) bolts. The slave cylinder can be seen and replaced without pulling the inspection plate. It is on the driver's side of the tranny, about half way up. Just follow the hydraulic line to it. It pokes to the rear from the bell housing and is held on by two bolts. The bleed valve is right next to it.

Anyone have any ideas? Is the slave going bad or does it just need bleed an new fluid put in
Thanks. I've seen the slave before an check the fluid in my res an it all where it should be. But after driving an the engine gets up to temp my slave makes a bad squeaking noise whenever the clutch is pushed in. You can hear it inside with the windows up an when the tops down it is really noticeable.

Is this the kind of squeaking you guys are talking about?
