Sliders, the indispensable mod
So, I got a little quick dropping off a rock this week and my trail partner and good friend got a video shot of it. He's gonna post up the video, but if any of you are wondering rather or not you want to drop 300 bucks to replace those plastic step rails, this video should help you decide. Maybe he will grace us with the story about his broken step rail.
I actually hit 3 times during a 2 day trail ride we did in uwharrie national forest. Zero damage thanks to the sliders. I got more damage from having mud flaps

The rail itself didn't hit, it was the mounting bar which is a bit lower that hit. None the less part of the slider. I have the ace rails that mount using the body mount bolts, if that makes sense.

Yes, I broke my step rail, but the wife said I cant buy anymore Jeep parts unless something breaks.
I told you the moment I saw those mudflaps they would take your plastic fenders off.

I like the mud flaps though... I guess they will have to come off sooner or later anyhow, so I'll probably pull them off tomorrow when I reposition the fire stick.
Had you had sliders, you would have been strait. At least you didn't about flip on the ledge like I did.

So where is the Modified JK Technical question/tip? Or is this a JK Talk/JK Trails & Tails story?
Read your Jeep Owners Manual. It recommends removing the factory steps prior to traversing any rough terrain.
JK Off-Road 101 post maybe?
