OK, now for the fun part… Mods!!
I’m going to be honest and say that I’ll spend most time on the streets, but plan on doing some minor off-roading while at a my hunting property. What I’m looking for is to beef up the current wheels/tires that I have with something better but I’d like to do so without have to modify the suspension (lifts, spacers, etc.). Right now I have the 255/70R18’s.

So I’ve read on the FAQ’s the following:
Q: What is the biggest size tire I can fit on my stock Jeep JK Wrangler?
A: The largest tire size that the factory recommends is a 255/75R17 (which comes standard on Rubicon models) or a 32x10.50. However, there are many Jeep JK Wrangler owners who are currently running as big as 285/70R17 or 33x10.50's with little to no rubbing issues.

So I’m trying to figure out what I can do. I really like the Nitto Terra Grappler AT P285/70R-17’s, and I’m trying to figure out if I got them, what size wheels (including backspacing, etc.) that I’d need to make them work.
I’m open to others opinions on a better tire/wheel packages but again my goal is to stay with my stock suspension. If you have suggestions and/or pics of set ups that may fit the bill please let me know and thanks for your time.
Any other ideas/pics of mod’s that I can make that will improve the “street” look are appreciated as well. Bear with me as I’m new to the JK world… I used to have a CJ 10 years ago...

Lastly, I’d like to thank everyone on this site for their knowledge, experience and expertise. I’ve logged a lot of time on the site over the past month or so and I’ve learned a ton about JK’s. I’m excited about my new toy and hearing everyone’s experiences and input helps me look forward to what is to come.
I am running 33" GY DuraTracs on my stock 18" Sahara wheels. Great tire, search on it, you'll see there are many happy owners of these.

I did the steering stop mod, and things work just fine for me. (stop mod is on the jk-project homepage)

I also found the savings of 17's to not be that great after factoring the cost of decent 17" rims.

Cheers

I've got stock 18" sahara rims on my 07 jk and bought 32.75" Wrangler DuraTrac's which I love... that's about the max you can go becuase I have some LIGHT rubbing on the lower control arms from the tire knobs on full turn.

Default Phase II Complete

So I updated the front bumper with a Hanson Offroad bumper and also added (for piece of mind) a 5 year 100K warranty for $1200 from Warranty Direct (great company by the way).

Let me know what you all think...

Default Terra Grapplers

I'm running 285/70/17 Terra Grapplers on a stock X 4dr - required a slight spacing on the fronts - only 1/4" though. Very slight (almost hard to notice) rubbing at full turn pressure.

Considering lifting and going to 35s at this point but the 33s look nice - will post pics when I get a chance.
