thanks for the replies. I am planning to run the nitto mud grappler. It that going to be a rough tire? Right now I have 325/60r18 Terra Grapplers. I would consider them fairly rough compared to the BFGs and MTRs I have ran in the past.

Has anyone used an OME spring with some Rancho 9000s? Seems like a sure way to get a nice ride? Any input and opinions welcomed. I am about a week from doing something.

Leaf springs can be stiff, coils by their very nature are squishy. Not to say if you used a coil off a dumptruck it wouldn't be very stiff.
My bad, I guess I was taking a dump when I was at Hendricks Porsche taking a class on setting up suspensions on 993s and 996s for the race track But I do seem to remember something about the amount of force (in pounds) that it takes to compress a coil spring, determining spring rate(800 lb springs are stiff/ 400 lb springs are much softer) Just my 2 cents!

I am not a porsche mechanic, or any mechanic for that matter, so my understanding of all of this is little to none. I always thought that the ride softness was determined by how stiff the springs are, and the shocks were just there to keep the body from bouncing or the tire from bouncing. I know that I have changed shocks on vehicles before, and nothing else, and it softened up the ride though. I always thought the shocks must have been too strong (like made for a heavier ride or something) or the jeep was too light for them. I have no idea.

Should I be comparing springs by lbs per inch or something and how much my jeep weighs, or what? I wish there was just a known "softest setup"

BTW- I am not really worried about getting a little more body roll in corners and stuff. It is worth it to me if I lose a little handling to get squishy ride.

Tires and pressure
Shocks
Springs

In that order you will find the refinded ride you are looking for (if that is even possible in a Jeep)

My KM2's are light tires and are very weight friendly for 35's. The total wheel tire combo weight is only 97 lbs. 20 more then stock. My PSI is also at 32-33. I had the TPMS lowered at the dealer to stop the light and chime. Stock PSI would be hard and rough riding.

I can say that my hydros have really grown on me and I have to admit that the cheap Full traction shocks ride awesome!!! FS5100 27.5 inch extended lift shocks are really nice riding.

The springs may make a great difference but most will be the same. I have Skyjacker 4" coils and love it.

Overall I am so satisfied with my Jeep I cant contain the excitement of how well everything has gone. Great Dealer, Great Lift, Great tires. Everything just seems right in the world right now.

I called my local dealer yesterday and they told me there was no way to lower the TPMS. I told him there was. He argued and said there was no way. He even got off the phone and asked the tech and he also said there is no way to lower the TPMS. I hate this light.

HELP!!!

You need to find a dealer who has one of these or something similar....

Some tire shops have them too. It took me a bunch of phone calls to find a dealer who would do mine. Some don't want to set them too low, mine would only go to 28psi.....which works for me

The last guy I was out with that had Nitto really complained about his road ride. If you want "squishy" I don't think Nittos are part of the equation. The K2 would be a softer riding option.

OME's have a great reputaion for giving a good ride. If you want more lift than OME can give Currie springs give the lift but seem to be on the soft side.

I went with the OME medium duty springs all the way around and the ome shocks and my ride is very very soft, I love it.

It only yielded about a 2.5 -3 inchs of lift ......... not as much as the HD .... but I am very happy with it. Hopefully wont have to replace the drive shafts at that rate either.

Oh yeah I have plenty of friends with TJS and a few with JKs and they all agree - mine drives like a caddy offroad lol. it does take the harsh stuff very nicely
