SOLID Diff Covers
I took my grinder to mine just because they came with instructions to do so. Maybe they are made for a standard Dana 44 but if you have the e-lockers there's a chance there could be some interference. I agree, you shouldn't have to do this but......evidently you do.
They were probably engineered well over 10 years ago, JK D44 with E-locker didn't even exist then, let alone a TJ D44. A JK D44 isn't even a D44 they just call it that because most people know what that is.
I just put 2 D44 Diff Covers on my new Rubi this weekend, i didnt grind them... How can I tell if I am going to have an issue? Is there something safe I can do to test? Should I not even be driving it?
The little effort it takes to grind them I would do it... this way you'll never have to worry again about whether or not you should have done it. Back in December in the sponsor section a SOLID rep chimed in and said you dont have to do it and he installed plenty without doing the mod. Then he changed his post to state that grinding is required after SOLID management heard about his post.

Hey guys, I'm resigned to grinding and I'm still looking forward to my SOLID covers' arrival (via FedEx today in fact). Are they pretty explicit in the instructions on where to grind and how much material to take off?
