A Solution For Hood Shake
I had an 07 with bad hood lift. Tried the vacuum hose under the seal... Worked for a couple days, then the latches stretched and it's back... Put the Daystars on, worked great for thousands of miles... 2 years... (But a little bit of the plastic broke inside the latch when I put it together). Traded in the 07 JK for an 08 Unlimited JK, tried the 09 latches, and 2 weeks later, the flutter is back. So now I have come up with a better (more expensive) fix. I will get these in a few days, so not sure how well it is going to work....
These (T-304 stainless steel latches)

Plus these: (Daystar hood wranglers)

=No more hood lift!!! (Hopefully)
and no more broken plastic on the hinges. Yes they are shiny, but they don't make a black version, and the only other ones available are Metalcrafters for $315...

Ok, we've all seen our hood bounce around on the interstate because the hood latches can't hold it firmly in place. Nothing we can do except put the Daystar latches on there to try and help it, although I have noticed that after I replaced my hood with another factory hood it doesn't shake anywhere near as much.
Anyway, here's my solution. Hinge the hood at the front and latch it at the back. I know a lot of guys are going to say that it's a knock off of the HMMWV but it works. Besides, they don't even sell the H1 anymore and Hummer is about to be extinct.
Only downside is that it could interfere with some of the grill guards and such that attach to the front.

I have no idea what you mean by your solution, I think the only down side would be that this does not exist, by the way all the other solutions would be a lot cheaper, the zip ties work great
I wonder if the aftermarket hoods, like AEV, TMD, or Crocker would have this problem? May the solution isn't the spring, zip tie, or hood latch. Maybe it's just the wrong hood!
It's that kind of thinking that costs me big time.

If you have a '09 (bought my 4 door X in May), does it have the new 'recall" latches installed?
I just removed the stack bumper and have noticed a significant increase in hood lift.

Some do, some don't. But, the recall latches have been said here on JK-Forum to not stop the hood dance. Zip ties do. Zip tie it and be done with it (but carry an extra couple because they do break on rare occasion).
