Default Spare tire extension bracket...which one?

Trying to narrow it down.. I need to get a 33" on, which I know will work with the stock carrier, but I relocated my third bracklight to a custom setup inside the spare and I need the spare to remain in the same orientation, so same bolt pattern config as what the stock carrier requires. But I also want to be able to run with the rear window open a crack, so I want to move the spare out an inch or two...

The ORW bracket is the cheapest and raises the spare up as well as out. But they rate it only up to a 32", I need up to 33.

Rough Countries is an easy fit, not too expensive and is rated to a 35", though I think the rating concern is for the structuraly integrity of the JK's gate, not the bracket.

From what I can tell, Warrior makes a couple of versions... Not sure of the differences other than finish. This has the benefit of being able to mount in a few different orientations, but for my use, that is not needed..

Two questions...

What's the good and bad news about these options?

None of these will have the spare pressed against the rubber snubs on the rear gate...is this a problem?

Why not look at the Rough Country wheel spacers (like spidertrax only cheaper). They are 1.5" and are strong enough to mount the wheels to the axle so they are plenty strong enough to mount just the spare. Also you get 2 for $60 and you can sell the second one on the sales forum to someone else who wants to upgrade to recoup some of your costs.

Great idea, but that would invert the bolt pattern. My third brake light is inside the spare mounted atop the carrier and visible between the "V" created by the spokes of the stock Sahara wheels.. if I invert is the spoke will be directly in front of the third brake light rendering it useless...

So does it matter if the spare isn't pressed against the rubber snubs? I thought that might be spreading the load of the spare across the rear door instead of concentrating it only on the carrier.. don't want the carrier to rip out of the gate and don't really need a swing out carrier.

Daystar makes longer rubbers, cheap way is to get some radiator hose that fits over your current rubber snugly and cut it to length.

No worries, and thanks for the offer, but like using a regular wheel spacer the MBRP spacer will invert the bolt pattern and render my third brake useless. Actually, not a bad thing, but is sure will look stupid..

Thanks anyway..

Last thing I need is a wheel and tire, with my tailgate attached, bouncing down the highway....

The factory tailgate is known to bend from even from the weight of a factory spare tire. Hence the warning.

Extension 2.75"
Offset Up (Rise) 1.75"
