How real is this? I am running 33's on stock Sahara wheels... can't be that much heavier than stock, but the added 3" extension must torque the bracket at greater stress levels...

Might be able to shim the stock studs with washers enough to get your spare on , just put some longer studs . Or those cheapo wheel spacer shims.

If your spend alot of time on the trail bouncing up and down that could cause it to bend. If your spending most of the time on the street then that helps. But some have bent the tailgate after just one offroad trip.

Thanks, I know I am beating this to death, but what bends? The outer skin? Does it impact how the tailgate closes or is it just cosmetic?

Not sure if it's the hinges or the metal around the hinges that bends. The tailgates are just too light weight.

I had the same problem when I went from stock M/T's to 35's. I installed the Warrior bracket and it worked fine. I had to cut my stock third brake light in to two pieces and install an extension, but all went well.
It lifts it up about 1-1/2 to 2 inches.

I'll take my chances... I'll order tonight. Thanks!

I've already relocated the brake light to inside the spare, mounted on the carrier, and a little bit of additional height would be fine.

Don't know how I missed this thread, but in addition to our spare relocate bracket, we also make a tail gate reinforcement kit...The four brackets bolt to the inside of the tailgate and add extra strength for running larger tires. No cutting...No welding. Easy and affordable.

Here are some images:

Wonder how much those brackets help... do they just distribute the weight more evenly where the tailgate hinge attaches? Its hard for me to picture how it would work w/ just 4 strips of metal, any pics of them installed? Any additional support would be nice as I just put on a set of 33's.
