Post Steel vs. Alloy

So here's the deal, right now I'm running 16x8 Black Rock Steel Wheels on 32.5x10.50 tires. I'm waiting on my 35x12.50 Duratracs to ship and have them installed. Should I order Alloys to go with it? I'm afraid that 35" tires on steel wheels is gonna be really heavy and might put more stress on my D30 than I'd like. Is the weight difference between the two enough to justify buying new wheels? I don't do any hardcore wheeling, but if I see some hills or rugged terrain on my way to wherever, I hit it. Btw, I'm looking at either the Pro Comp 7032's, or the Pro Comp 7089's. For those of you running this set up, how is the drivability? I'm aware of re-gearing and gusseting my C's and all that, and I will do that as money allows. Thanks!

I don't think the weight justifies it for breakage reasons. It's probably on a few pounds and it's close to the hub so it doesn't exert as much force of the axle shafts.

Just a thought.

I don't know how much your black rocks weight but my 16" procomp 7089's came in at roughly 23 LBS. My stock 16" steel wheels weighted just over 25LBS. I didn't get the weight saving I was expecting but oh well, they look good.

I don't know the exact weight of the Black Rocks either, but they feel heavy. Definitely more than 23-25lbs. I'll be honest here, I'm looking for an excuse to get some Pro Comps! haha. I'll probably end up going with the 7032's, I think they'll look sexy on a JK. Thanks for the responses though guys!

I had ordered the 7032's originally, after 2 months on back order with no ETA available I changed to the 7089's. Maybe the 7032's are in stock by now, good luck.

Really? How long ago was this? I've had my Duratracs on order for about a month and a half now and honestly I'm sick of waiting on things haha. If they're backordered, I'll either get the 7089's, or the Black Rock Series 909 Alloy wheels. I really like that Pro Comp offer a lifetime warranty with their products though.

I ordered on the 20th of December. Changed the order on the 24th of January and had the 7089's on the 27th. So it was actually only a little more than a month. I guess I'm more impatient than I thought.

Awesome thanks for the info! I just got off the phone with Quadratec and the guy told me their ETA is about 4 weeks, I can do that considering my Duratracs still aren't due for another month and a half. Nice JK btw!
