How easy is it to pop the steering wheel off and rotate it back center? Also would that be a bad idea? I know older models it was no problem but on these gay ks it might explode

Steering wheel splines are keyed so you can't get them off center. It needs to be centered so your turn signals will cancel properly.

My turn signals currently are not working correctly with the wheel off. I take it splined like the pitman arm where it really only goes on one way correct?

Yes.

Turn signals wouldn't fix themselves by remounting the steering wheel even if it wasn't keyed. That whole clock spring mechanism is behind the splines.

Did you compare your picture to mine, where it looks like your pitman arm is further to the drivers side than mine? I mean, it's photographs, not measurements, but it looked fairly clear to me.

Are you 90 degrees left or right?

On second thought, side by side they look the same.

Or maybe yours is more passenger side. By the pic I'd guess your 90 degrees right?

Its to the left. I need the wheel to turn right to have it recentered. just by looking at the pics they look pretty damn close i think. yours is just closer..

anyone have a picture of the intermediate shaft going from the steering wheel to the box? mine has a lot of play near the firewall side. getting frustrated not being able to figure this out. have had some weird stuff to figure out in the past, but this takes the cake and i really have no clue for once. I may just leave it...

And I'm guessing you don't have any adjustment left in your drag link?

Nope. I have extra dom but am being lazy. I dont wanna have to build another. Something gave and it bugs me not knowing. If the box skipped my pitman arm would still be straight so That still seems most logical?

I think you would be off more than 90 degrees if you skipped a tooth, and I don't see how that much play is possible. You would have needed to bend (deflect) the sector shaft by about 1/4" to accomplish that, all without twisting the shaft first. The teeth are huge, and there's only three of them.

Link on the forum to a pic of a sector shaft

Most logical conclusion for me is something is bent. But if nothing is broken, adjust and move on. Build a new drag link :( or cut that bitch in half, shorten it a tad, sleeve it and weld it back together
