What you are describing is death wobble under the control of your SS until it blows out then you will feel the full blunt of the DW. Check your front trackbar torque specs, alignment(especially toe in) and maybe a road force balancing of the wheels.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!
good point. definitely check your toe setting and your track bar mounting bolts to make sure they are tightend to 125-130 ft. lbs. of torque.

they are attached to the top and bottom of your steering knuckles. lift up the front end so that the wheels are off the ground and then grab them at the 12 and 6 position and try to rock them. there should be no shifting/movement here.

if your track bar is loose, this will give you DW.

I had bump steer and a rattling vibration felt through the wheel with each bump. I tightened my track bar to 135 ft. lbs and it is much better.

The best way to check your ball joints are to jack each front tire off the ground one at a time and put a pry bar or shovel under them.

Have someone push down on the shovel handle/pry bar while you watch the ball joints at the steering knuckle. If there is any movement and/or a clicking noise there, they are bad.

Does anyone know if it is ok to set to in as per WOL's write up even if you are stock? Or is that going to be too much?

when going about 60 on the highway the steering shakes a bit too. and also i noticed that there is a metal rod just between the tires on the front, and when i grab that part and move it with my hand it moves fairly easily.

That metal rod is your tie rod. It should pivot up and down when you move it by hand but any side to side movement is bad.

and if it moves side to side then it means the ball joints are bad or is it something else?

having said that, have you checked your ball joints? i know there are a lot of people on here that have been burning through theirs in a hurry and that could be your problem as well.

WOL beat me to it

Side to side means your tie rod end is shot.
