I ordered this b/c after my tires/wheels were installed, I began to experience a little shimmy in the steering wheel. It only happens if I hit a bump or pothole at slower speeds. I've had the lift for months with no issues what so ever, and I did not experience the shimmy until the day the tires were on. At highway speeds, there is no noticable shimmy or death wobble.

You guys think the stabilizer will help with my described issue?

When you all say your stock stabilizer was broken, do you mean broken in half or that the shock no longer dampens?

Thanks!!!
Sounds like a bumpsteer issue, rather than a steering stabalizer problem. You need to drop your trackbar to help with bumpsteer.

More than likely though its your tires - they are probably out of balance. I know, I know - you just got them. They are probably still out of balance.

If they were out of balance, wouldn't that show up while simply driving down the road?

Dropping the track bar? I have an adjustable track bar on my short list. Maybe I need to pull the trigger.

I appreciate the help.

Yep, I'm in the rocks. Higer quality than stock or higher quality than the TF one I just ordered? Dammit!

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Default ------- update ------

I puchased and installed the TF steering stabilizer.

After reading the above posts, I was worried that I had bigger issues. But, the stock stabilizer ended up being the issue. When I removed the stock shock, there was aprx 2" of play, then there was very little dampening after that and it made a squishy sound. I guess you could call it broken or wore out.

Once I replaced the unit, I was so happy to have the great handling back. I did not realize how loose the steering was until I replaced the unit. I guess I had accostomed my self to the crappy handling and shock absorbtion. Now, the steering feels tight and bumps no longer jiggle the wheel.

I reused the factory mounting hardware. The hardware that came with the kit must be for use when relocating the brackets. I had to reuse one of the OEM metal inserts as one of the two that came with the kit was too narrow and appeard to be intended for another kit. I pressed the metal insert out of the stock shock via an unused bolt from the kit, a wrench, my jack and my hitch. -- If you ever get to this point, better shoot me a PM :-)

I guess that simply replacing with another OEM stabilizer would have worked too, but I'm glad I went the direction I did.

And old trick to see if you wheel is out of balance is to tap your brake if it goes away for a little bit and comes back your tire is out of balance. If you bought your wheels and rims installed and they were shipped to you, I would have them re balance, I've heard before that some jeepers bought wheels like this and had problems. There is a possibility that you could have lost a weight and all you have to do is look closely at your rim you should be able to tell where it was. Myself I run the RC dual stabilizer and I'm impressed with it.
