Steering troubles
I actually had a similar problem! If i turned one way and let the wheel spin back (while not moving) I got the same knock. It was my trackbar as well. An adj track bar is never a bad idea IMO. I'm running the teraflex and think it's awesome. Just picking it up you will feel the biggest difference you could imagine. 5" of lift and stock mounting locations, no complaints.
Do be honest my kit came with a different pitman arm. I cannot remember if the instructions told me to install it or not for my year jeep... I do not have a flipped draglink.
If you post a picture of the pitman arm we might be able to tell. Or even just a picture from the front of your jeep. You want your drag link and track bar to be as parallel as possible for good handling. Removing the bracket with a drop pitman arm would put them at two different angles.
Good point, I didn't think to even ask about that. If you post a picture of the pitman arm we might be able to tell. Or even just a picture from the front of your jeep. As noted earlier, the trackbar and draglink should be relatively parallel to each other. When you added the drop pitman arm, you lowered one end of the draglink. The angles were off. So to fix it, a relocated trackbar bracket was also installed. Both bars were parallel before the lift, and due to the drop pitman & trackbar bracket, both bars remain parallel after the lift. Removing one without also removing the other is known to cause a nice case of bumpsteer.
Can't comment on who you spoke with at Trailmaster, but it might be worth your time to make another call...
It's a little hard for me to see but I think you'll be fine with using the stock location. Im that bracket doesn't seem to even lift it up very high. The left side of the picture is a tad dark to see. The only advantage to the adj track bar will be centering your axle. If you take the drop pitman arm off as well as the bracket they would probably be parallel.

I will give it a try guys and let you know if you us care to know, I had the track bar braket re welded this morning with a 300amp welder and also reinforced it so it should be a lot more solid than what came from the factory.
Except that many people on here talk about the extra stress/leverage caused by a drop pitman, leading to steering box failure. The general recommendation is to run a drag link flip / high steer instead of the cheaper drop pitman/bracket. It just never ends, does it...
