Superchips Flashpaq for JK, Initial Impressions
Well, I ran the 87 for a couple tankfuls on the tow setting and obviously wasn't smart enough to have looked at the manual to see that it requires 91 or better. Not sure if there is a screen on the Flashpaq itself that says you should be running 91 or better you need to tab through. If so I guess I just don't think about that stuff much anymore when going through or it wasn't there.
Anyway, I didn't notice any ill effects from running the 87 and the tow tune. That said, I wouldn't knowingly do it again or stray from 91 better in the future. With as good as it did run, I'm even more curious as to how well it will run with the right fuel.

So, I picked up my tuner at lunch, and proceeded to update it. It then showed the "Add Advanced Data Acquisition" option, so I checked it, and hit "get package". Bunch of "Analysing . . .", "Communicating . . .", then "Programmer Up-To-Date". But it still shows the "Add Advanced Data Acquisition" option. Weird, or normal? I want to do an acquisition run stock, then flash and do another run.

I figured I'd let you guys figure that out, I really don't need to do any runs, to me the improvement is fantastic. A little more power/torque, great driveability!
The 60 degree OHV 3.8 V6 has a very smooth "electric" feel to it in normal driving with the 91 tune. Get it to the floor in third, and it's a little fierce, and pulls hard up past 5K. Lug it down to 1400rpm in the higher gears, it's fine, pulls smoothly and solidly right back up the rpm scale.
No one will mistake this motor for some "high output" powerplant, but it does very very well with this upgrade. At the stage my engine is at right now, I'd never trade it for the old 4.0 inline six.

OK, finally plugged it in this evening, and it's all there - I did some O2 sensor data logging for fun, as I was not able to do all the testing I wanted to. Very cool that you can log O2 sensor data!
I took the flashpaq plunge this week as well. 6 speed unlimited x with 3.21 gearing. I had recently upgraded to 265/75-16's and was unhappy with the power loss. Figured it was worth a shot.
I know we are not talking about "real" size tires to most on the forum, but the flashpaq seemed to take me back to better than stock power levels.
I went with the tow setting, but may try the performance one for grins once I get some better gas in it. I have been running 87 since day 1.
No way I will get better mileage with it though, much too fun to depress the right pedal now. Quicker response, almost like it sped up the drive by wire...
