Just FYI, when you tack weld u-joints, you super heat the grease and needle bearings, effectively shortening there life. Plus if you have a u-joint fail on the trail, kinda hard to grind the welds off, unless so equiped. This may be ok for a trail rig only, but if its your daily driver that sees alot of road miles, I wouldn't recommend it.

A better approach would be to carry a spare u-joint in your jeep for daily driving and to get a spare set of stock axles for the trail. Thats what I do anyway.

Just run your U-joints as is for now and if you lose a cap or blow a joint, just replace the joint with circle clips. Problem solved.

I have done mine. My rig is not a DD. When (not if) my axle fails i only plan to replace parts not try to fix them. So the added insurance of the caps not coming off is worth it to me.

-Clean area
-Tack all 4
-Paint

Pretty simple and it's hot for 1 second.
