I definitely recommend you get an 08 to 2010 rear sterling. The issue with an older sterling will be with the rear wheel sensor. With an 08 or newer, you get to keep most everything. You just have to replace your hanger (which seats the sensor) and add a tone ring ($10) or replace your hub with a newer one that comes with the tone ring.

I'll see if I can find one to take a look at. I assume they run a little higher than a 14b?

....A quick look on Car-Part confirms it. I'm seeing anywhere from $850-$1200 for a 10.5

They're not very expensive given the lack of demand. The benefit is that you don't have brake upgrades, etc. You can probably pick one up for about $600 or less. Machine the hubs for tone rings and off you go. The stock brackets are easy to remove.

The only catch with the Sterling is that the diff is slightly offset to the passenger side. I have heard that it can have a clearance issue with the gas tank of the JKU, though numerous people have done it and didn't have a clearance issue.

Also, if you get a 60 front, you have the same bolt pattern all the way around. Another cost savings.

The reason why I am suggesting an 08 to 2010 is because the older ones are difficult to put a sensor on it. This means you will be spending over a grand changing out the entire hub assembly just to make it work. On a separate note, your local junk yards are always willing to haggle.

What's different between the pre 2008 and 2008+? No clue, just curious. Figure we may as well put as much info in this thread as possible!

Good question... when I was putting together my parts list for my 02 axle, I have to order the entire hub assembly. After you and I chatted, we discovered that from 08 to 2010 they changed up the hub assembly. Then in 2011, they modified the assembly by changing up the dust cover/hanger to include the sensor mount and added a tone ring to the hub.

None of my hub components are compatible with new dust plate/hanger. Therefor, to change the hanger, I need to change the calipers, rotors hub, and e-brake. I could have avoided the expense of the hub, caliper, e-brake, and rotor had I purchased a newer axle.

All I really care about is the speedometer working. My clock spring is out so my dash is already lit up like a Christmas tree. From what I understand, the 07-11's computers are different from the 12+. Mine being an 08, I believe that I can just get away with one sensor plugged in to receive speed data. Can anyone confirm? Next question: If I do in fact only need one hooked up, does it have to be on the rear?

I thought you needed 2 for speed but now that you said that i dont think i tried just one... . Will have an abs light i believe with only 2. I dont have any on now but ill be doing it soon. I had it working for a bit but when i moved them they haven't since. The sensors are pretty picky on there placement to the tone ring

You are correct about the years... The newer jeeps require all 4 to be working and the older ones only need one to work. I ran on one for about 3 weeks on my 07. However, your brake light will remain on unless you have 2 wheel speed sensors working. That said, not sure if you care about adding a pretty red light to your tree.

If the sensor doesn't matter, than the only difference between 99 to 2007 and 08+ is the WMS. On the F150/250 the wms is 69 vs 70.5 respectfully. I called out those models as I am not sure what the wms is on other vehicles caring the sterling.

On my 07 One sensor would make the speedo work. You need at least 2 running to get the "BRAKE" warning light to go off.
