Default TPMS Question

About a week ago, I installed my new 35" BFG KM2's on 15" MB72's from DTD (without TPMS sensors). My old rims and tires (with the TPMS sensors) are sitting in my garage where I park.
Neither my TPMS alarm nor light have gone off all week.
Is this because I haven't been away from the old rims/tires long enough to trigger the alarms?
I've only been driving back and forth from work so far.

I would think the alarm would trigger right away. I've been told if you don't have them installed that it will trigger, but i do not know why it would if there is no sensor to pass on info...... I installed mine when I ordered new rims and decided to air down to 25psi for DD and the light stays on and beeps everytime I start up the jeep....

I'm wondering if it's because the old tires are still inflated and within range when I park at night.
In the winter, my alarm went off a couple times when it got really cold which brought the spare tire pressure down enough to trigger it, and it seemed to take awhile after it warmed up again for it to turn off again?
Also, the guy at the tire shop said that on some vehicles ( not sure if Jeep is one of them ), that if you were to ignore the alarms long enough, the vehicle would just stop running till you got it fixed?
Can anyone confirm if there's any truth to that?

I think he is full of crap, but I could be wrong.... My light and alarm has been on for 2 weeks and counting.... I understand what your saying about parking near them, but how would you explain it while not parked. I'm gonna stick with my earlier analysis...

I don't know why but my light did not come on for a couple weeks after I changed wheels and tires without using the sensors...
But after a couple weeks, it came on and has been on every since... Thought I got lucky....
Probably something to do with the computer recalculating itself!!!????!!!????

A couple weeks?
Wow, you'd think something like a TPMS sensor would want to tell you that you have may have a flat tire right away?

Some what off topic here but not really...I was told today by the tire shop that when I get new tires the TPMS sensors need to be totally replaced, costing an extra $80 or so. Is this true?

when I took my stockers with tpms off and put my new meats on, the TPMS light was immediately on..I used my procal to disable it. Sounds like yours never worked?
