Default track bar bracket broke

The stock rear track bar braket brock today. I have a 2.5" skyjacker lift w/ 35s on a 2 door. The rear bracket where skyjackers relocation bracket bolts up broke where it is welded to the axle. After inspection the stock bracket has welds on 3 sides. The outside weld had not fully fused with the bracket. The weld litterally seperated from the bracket.

Here is the bad part. The service manager said Jeep would deny the claim because it is lifted. Then he told me my drivetrain warranty will probably be voided due to the larger tires.

Any one have any experience with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act?

Unfortunately this is a weak point on the factory suspension and the added leverage can cause failure. I would recommend changing to a drop bracket that has multiple attachment points on the frame, after you have your stock mount welded back on. You are not the first to experience this. Skyjacker and Rancho both use this setup, and maybe some others. Full Traction and Teraflex both use the drop brackets.

First of all, the welds were obviously not all good, thus a manufacturer's defect in my eyes.
second, the rear axle tracks fine. how does an adjustable track bar help?

it depends on the lift, my ultimate does not use a bracket, it comes with adjustable track bars

I am running a Rusty's 3.25 and it also came with adj track bars. I had a very bad experience with drop brakets...I will never use one again.

In the dealers eyes, it was the lift that caused it, because of the extra strain on the bracket.
It may have been a week weld, but its hard to say if it would have broken without the lifts extension bracket on it. The added leverage put on the stock bracket probably did cause it to break easier.

This is probably why some other kits like FT and so on, use a drop down bracket from the frame instead of adding onto the axle bracket.

An adjustable track bar is the best way to go, because then you dont need any extra brackets.
The bar itself is longer and adjustable to make up for the extra lift.

So your axle bracket has nothing but the track bar bolted to it?
I and others thought that kit used a bracket there instead of up on the frame end of the track bar.

If we're wrong, then maybe all brackets are not a very good idea after all.

I quess i'm an idiot. i am just so POed about the situation. The skyjacker came with a bracket that bolts to the axle bracket to raise that end of the track bar instead of dropping the frsme end. Seems like it keeps the angles right but I guess puts more pressure on a weaker point.

It seems though that under federal warranty laws that Jeep has to prove the lift caused the failure. With one of the welds being bad that seems that it would be hard for them to do that.

Hell my jeep has 2500 miles on it! Beyond that this is the same kit that 4WP uses to lift new jeeps for my dealer to sell. The only difference is I had 4WP do it after I bought it.

I will let yall no how it turns out. Thanks
