Trouble with quick disconnects...
Rubber mallet here too.... Also at times had a buddy stand on the step ups on the side of your jeep(if you have them)..... BUT took care of that problem permanently.... Sold them and added the Currie Anti-rocks
I've found it's easiest to connect and disconnect if I have a second person to help. He gently pushes up or down on the bumper at that corner to align the pin with the hole in the link and take the pressure off of the pin. Then they slide right off and on super easy. You don't have to spend a lot of time looking for super level ground this way.

That just means you are not using them enough.
Make sure you keep them lubricated and don't be afraid to put some grease on the pins.
Like others have said pushing up or down on the front bumper while removing will help. If your front suspension is not level it puts tension on the sway bar.

Put back on. I recently switched to Metalcloak so you just take the bottom loose
Then swing up and pin them to a small bracket on frame, much better.....
This confirms my beliefs that it's just as easy to keep stock bars there for 110$ savings lol.
Takes me 5 minutes one person! I just have to bring my socket wrench which is in the back of jeep and poof they pop off lol.
