You are right again.... The supercharger is interesting because of the fuel economy increase and the extra power, but the Hemi is exciting for the BIG power increase. It is alot of money for that thrill though. I'll probably do the intake after the exhaust and maybe the programmer to hold me over. I want to just drive her and have fun playing for awhile. I've dumped alot of cash into her already!

I agree, it's just a matter of principal... I have the sixth gear, I want to use it. I guess if I throw enough money at it, I can have my cake and eat it too. supercharger/Hemi.......

if you want to have your cake and eat it too..... do the hemi swap and supercharge it!

That'll be fun to drive!!!!

In all seriousness, you can get a good deal on a hemi... but the supercharger seems much easier!

I have a JK 4 door with ARB Bar, warn winch, solid d60 which are heavier then currie, 35 tires, heavy duty drive shafts with diff ratios 5.13 hypertec programmer, AEM Cai, cat back exhaust etc etc have done 30,000 Ks on the clock and the 3.8L engine just shits itself.

especially when on hills etc its too much weight. i havent even added the rear bumper or gone up yo 37 yet.

my only option is super charger or Hemi.

I have 32's and stock gears with the auto, and I beat peeps all the time off the line, so I can get in the good lane, etc for turning. It's not like my Titan, but I am 100% sure is better than by 05 LJ I had with a 6 speed. The big fly wheel took forever for the RPMs to drop to shift to the next gear. The 6 speed's first was a log truck gear.

The JK gets faster with age!

Now 35's with 4.88's I assume would tamper it down a bit, so when I get 35's I'm thinking 5.13's.

If you have that much extra money then go ahead. I'd rather downshift a gear since it's not that hard...

I'm with Lee in that regard. I'd want to be able to use 6th gear as well and first see if programmer, intake and exhaust upgrades make it happen and then if need be do a gear swap to steeper gears.

I'm not that enthralled with the prospects of a hemi upgrade. It significantly raises the COG and not many of us bought our JKs for 0-60 times. A supercharger might be nice for on road stuff but of minimal value off road, then all the trickery that goes along with it. Thankfully RIPP has that figured out, but there is still plenty of merit in getting it done with stock power plant and the appropriate means to get that power to the ground.

I was all about the supercharger (granted it's a few years before I can afford it). But a few things made me worry some about it:

Some people said the power increase wasn't truly noticeable. Also, there were questions brought up regarding the cold weather use.

I do realize it is low boost, and I'm sure the companies out there did their research, but if I'm at 30k miles on an engine, would it make sense to install a supercharger? How much life would I have left in the motor???

The lower the boost the less extra wear it is on the engine, but at the cost of lower power increase.
