more air into the engine is the only reason why it would get any better. Engines like air. This paired with a non-restrictive intake, and a better flowing exhaust should deffinitly see a minor/decent gain in MPG, especially with a tune.

I will be removing the programmer today. nothing due to codess. I have a 1/8 mile acceleration point that i've used to compare my vehicles over the years and here is my comparison for them

89 wrangler 2.5L 45mph
08 wrangler 4dr no hypertech 52mph
08 wrangler 4dr hypertech 55mph
08 wrangler 4dr viper only 55mph
08 wrangler 4dr viper/hyper 53 mph (it falls on it face midrange)
91 lexxs LS400 65 mph
73 torino 351c 4.11 gears detroit locker 80mph

I've had no code issue as some people are suspecting from lean condition. I live at 6000 feet in a hilly area. it just laydown while accelerating right in the middle of the rpm range with the combo installed. My original intent for purchasing the throttle body is give my jeep a rest from downsifting (less throttle movement with more air coming in) and for this its doing great. remember, transmission uses the TPS for a reference when to shift. Bang for the buck, I think your better off installing the throttle body at $136 than a $350+ programmer. That seems to be my case. Milage so far with the prorammer/viper 17.7mpg. with the trottle body only, 18.5mpg if you are going to just do a spectre coupling only with factoy intake tube, use the 3" to 3.5" coupling, not the 3" to 4".
Excellent info man! Thanks for the work.

Boggy in the midrange probably indicates that it's lean, FYI.

Wonder if it would be possible to put slightly larger injectors in?

I was actually thinking about the same thing the other day. I dont have a programmer so i dont know if they can change the amount of fuel flowing in. Anyone with one wanna chime in on this?

Also im curious to find out in reference to running lean at midrange...would switching to 92 octane offset this? Thought process-> More fire + More air, all in the same amount of space would = more BANG!(horsepower). As opposed to More air + same fire = leaning out midrange.

Higher octane means the fuel is harder to ignite. You do this when timing is advanced to prevent pre-ignition. (pinging)

He's right. More octane does not equal more power. The most power yielded from any combination will be from the lowest octane required to avoid detonation or pre-ignition.
