Default Seems like they have the problem addressed...

I find myself fortunate that I was able to take my winch directly over to Warn, as they are a local company. I spoke with Augie in the service department and he said "I'll fix it while you wait!" Apparently the aluminum on the thermal switch corrodes a bit. While he fixed the thermal sensor, he took the entire motor apart to give it a once over. He showed me where the water coming in, or condensation, will really eat these things up. He replaced a couple parts and did an overhaul for me. His suggestion is to buy a cover ASAP. He also said it's a good idea every so often to run the motor until it gets warm so as to dry up some of that condensation.

So they think the cover will solve the issues? Living in ohio, we get alot of salt, water during the winter months.

I have the cover. I'm just hoping it helps

That sucks, so its just a problem that is gonna be there...

Looks like a regular winch for me...
I didnt really need the air but thought it would be a cool
bonus when you get a nail in the tire or something.

Well, I wish I would have had a camera. He asked me if I had forded any streams? The corrosion on the inside of the motor and the lack of good coverage by the seal prompted him to do the overhaul. I just find it odd that if they know of the problem...why they don't retrofit it, recall it or the like. Seems oddly like another situation I had with a product...won't get into that. I am very happy with the service they provided...especially same day walk in! However...if you live somewhere other than the Portland metro area... He said the cover would help with the overall corrosion and longevity of the winch. I guarantee salt will eat that baby up! I do have the direct # to the guys who helped me. If you still have an issue PM me and I can give you the info. If you guys want me to ask more specifically about long term issues...I'd be happy to call them too.
