I agree 100%. It's in too dumb a place to just protect it. It needs to be moved. I did the Kilby kit, but probably would have gone with the Woods option if I'd seen it in time.

Also needed are control arm skids. It's easy to make your own and weld them on. But you can buy aftermarket weld-ons for cheap.

Very valid question. I think this is a matter of the best place to put stuff, rather than the perfect place to put stuff.

My opinion is that the muffler is better suited for this location, because it's smaller than the Evap Can. The muffler can be tucked up a bit and gets better protection than the Evap Can. Here's a pic:

think of it like this. if you destroy your muffler you can pull it off and still get home. if you tweak your evap youll probably be payin for a tow home. besides mufflers are cheaper than the can. just get a cherry bomb and tuck it up nice and tight.

ya'll gotta keep in mind too that some of this just isn't worth the trouble to the ones that'll never abuse their JK the way the rest of us do...which is cool too...I know if I could afford two I'd have one to beat the crap out of and another to just look nice....NAW I'd probably beat that crap out of both and use one for spare parts!

I have not added anything to my gas tank skid. It does the job. I have used my belly to skid over things and it is holding up well enough. Now I do have a couple of pretty waves in it... but that just adds art to your jeep.
