Default Wheels/Tires Advice

How big of tire/wheel combination can I go with on a stock JK Sahara? I do not want to lift it as of yet, but I also do not want to go wrong. I have seen a few JK's running around that look great with nice wheels, and meaty tires, but all have a lift. The dealer said I can go with 33's on 18's. Any thoughts? I trust you guys more than the dealer! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try a 285/65R18 in a Nitto or BFG a/t. Should fit with no lift or wheel spacers. They'll run close to 33" but still work on the stock wheels.

I ran 33x11.5 on stock suspension before my lift but I also had wheels with 4.5 backspace. I didn't have any rubbing issues until I got into flex. So, if you have wheelin in mind you will need a lift.

It sounds like you like the meaty look of the tires... Go with a MUD tire.. 33s OK on stock... But I'd say - stay way from changing your rims to 18" (Changing em is great but stick to 17" rims) - you really loose tire options.... less options mean you must pay more for what you want...
Toyo has great MUD tires that do not make alot of noise... I love mine... they're 35s... I added a 2" lift... And later after you've updated your rims and worn through your 33s - and are ready for a lift.. your rims at 17" are still great providing you numerous options of available tires at the size to are going to....
Have fun out there!

Sounded like he was planning on using stock rims.
He has a Sahara. They have 18" rims.

Sorry guys, I should have mentioned that I was looking at changing the wheels also. If 17's are the way to go with larger tires, but still do not need to lift, thats the way I need to go for now. I don't plan on doing any serious off-roading, due to lack of experience for now. I am looking more for the clean, but dangerous look of larger tires than stock. Smaller wheel, larger tire?
