Default Which Winch??

I am looking at getting a new winch. I have narrowed it down to the smittybilt xrc 10 and xrc 8. I have a jk unlimited by the way. The difference between the 2 is if i get the xrc 8 i will get the one with the synthetic line, the xrc 10 would not be based on price. So would I be better off with the xrc8 with synthetic line or the xrc10 for the extra power, steel ine...I May use it a few times a year but thats it.

Thanks
Chris

I agree, with the 4 door, you will want the power.

So go with the power not the better synthetic line. I guess that makes sense, you can always up grade to the synthetic line. Just thought that $450.00 for the xrc8 with synthetic line and free shipping would be the way to go....

Why compromise?
You can get the 10 with the synthetic line and free shipping... winchdepot.com

EDIT: oh I get it, you are getting steel on purpose with the 10 to save money, not because of availability... sorry.
Well maybe the free shipping helps with the difference.

Honestly I have the XRC8 on my 2dr and all I can say is it pulled me out when I needed it but its definitely a "value" priced item. It looks just like rugged ridge's new winch to boot. I am not saying the smittybilt winches don't work but after running this winch I will be upgrading to a Warn in the next couple months.
You can get the M8000 for $539.00, more expensive but well worth it.
I plan to stay away from smittybilt products like their bumpers, rails, and winches. Its all inexpensive imported stuff, as for their interior equipment, I'll still buy it. I don't have so much of an issue with imports, just if it is an inferior product.
I love the rear gear they make, very prctical.

get the 10 over the 8 for sure on a Unlimited. but based on what my research showed me, I'd recommend the M8000 over the Smitty 10. plus, the steel line has many advantages over synthetic depending on situations. search on my posts in the last 2 months on the subject. I even interviewed a Warn exec/engineer who gave me his 25 years of Warn input & experience. not just people saying 'Warn is best,' but actual facts & details.

then get a winch kit (including snatch block) cause u really need it.

I gotta recommend the Warn M8000. Only because I've used it for pulling stuff around the farm and also getting unstuck and it works now 3 years later as it did new.
