i see everyone's point with the warn winch, but honestly i think half of the price is just for the name, ive seen many off-brand stuff perform just as well as name brand, not just with winches either
i was looking at this smitty xrc 10hd with the air compressor
http://www.winchdepot.com/Winches-Wi..._pn=S%2fB99210
for $749 i think that is a pretty good deal

That doesnt sound like a bad deal. Half the price of what warn would be with the compressor.

Am I missing something?
First, my JKU Rubi only weighs 339 pounds more than the 2 door - why do I need an extra 2000 pounds pulling capacity to cover it? Are people with 4 doors actually seeing the 8K winches stalling out?
Second, while no doubt Warn has been around longer than Smittybilt winches, I have yet to hear an objective reason why Warn is better. You can bet both Warn and Smittybilt have components produced overseas to keep their costs in line, even if Warn winches are assembled here. Not seeing anyone talk about the SB winches failing them.
Thanks for educating me.

I did a lot of research and wanted to know FACTS behind the Warn name, not just hearsay. I posted my findings here in several threads. There are some definite differences. Of course, people can only buy what they can afford. Do a search on my user ID on the topic.
I think we can all agree yes Warn is the top brand.. but; maybe his priority isn't spending allot of money on a winch..
Just like someone who spends $1400.00 on a winch and puts on cheap ass lights
.. maybe there priority isn't driving at night..
We can all dream.. but; very few of have the best of everything.. they get what they like and can afford..
