Winch Covers ... you use one ???
I'll be installing a Warn XD9000i soon ... just waiting on bumper.
Just wondering if most guys put a cover on their winch (either vinyl or neoprene) or if you just leave it exposed to the elements all the time.
Also ... do the covers work on bumpers that have an integral type winch mounting system as opposed to the bumpers that have the winch sitting on top up high ??

I have the vinyl one.....it is good during the winter, but during the summer, I have collected moisture under it...makes the winch look like it sweats.....I keep mine uncovered for summer, let it breathe.....During winter months it's keeps everything out as discussed.....My brother has the neoprene cover....I like it better, as it really hugs the winch, almost seals it, but the sun really fade the black cover to almost dirty brown......my vinyl cover bungee cords snapped on one side, but I can still make it work.....my winch still looks almost new after almost 3 years.....i am waiting for a new cover to come out....
I bought a neoprene cover for my Warn 9.5ti (which isn't yet installed, because I'm waiting for my bumper to come in). Don't know yet how often I'll actually end up using the cover, but I park outdoors so I thought I might want to protect it from the elements. I figure I'll use it at least during the rainy season, but we don't get too much of that in SoCal.
I have the neoprene cover on mine. The cover is faded, but I could care less, didn't put it on for looks just to protect my low budget winch. I also have it on my rugged ridge modular front bumper with the integrated mount. The cover seems to be on there enough to handle a trip from South Florida to Western North Carolina.
A cover came with my new smittybilt comp10, I will use it to keep the elements and road salt off of the synthetic rope. My last winch (superwinch lp8500) rusted out after 3 months of normal rainfall, the motor was locked up, solid rust.
