thats prob an ATV winch. I'd go with an 8000lbs winch at least for a JKU.

You could buy 5 and line them up on your bumper.

is this just a thing most people do or is there a logical reason behind it? I had an Xterra that weighed a shit ton (armor, GOBI and skids) more than a JKU and my M8000 winch was perfect.

The winch is supposed to be rated at 1.5x the vehicles gross weight. So a 5700 ponds jku needs an 8500+ pound rated winch.

Jeep lists the weight of a JKU Rubi at 4340 lbs. x 1.5= 6510lbs. If your Jeep is hevily loaded or outfitted with heavy bumpers and armor it would obviously weigh more. I'd imagine mine is less with no doors, top, carpet, etc. Dave over at Northridge said 8,000 was plenty for a JKU.
