Default Yeah another DW thread

ive been through every thread there is about death wobble both back when i first started experiencing it and now that it has come back at me. heres how im set up.

Skyjacker 2.5 lift just coils and shocks.
JKS front and rear Adjustable trackbars
JKS discos
33" KM2s

the axles are centered everything was done properly.

when i had first put the lift on and had my stock tires is when i first got DW, once i got my new tires on it had gone away for a while, it has since come back but it does not occur as often as it did at first.

at slower speeds i get it as i hit bumps, size of the bump doesn't matter as it happens on large and small bumps but also not every time.

ive checked and re checked everything underneth and everything looks good. alignment is fine toe is fine.

the only thing i could think of is my caster, i havent checked it yet but it shouldnt have changed that much with 2.5" coils right?

anyone that has experienced this before knows how frustraiting it can be and i deprately need some answers because im getting pretty fed up with it and my jeep is not as much fun to drive anymore with this crap happening to me.

Please help my guys and gals!!!

what did you torque the track arm bolts to?

Castor is not gonna cause DW, something is loose or amiss. Are you positive your toe in is right. Are the trk bars torqued to 125ft lbs?

even if you have it torqued to 125 take an impact to it

how often do you rotate the tires, maybe they are cupped and starting the wobble?

is your stabilizer in good condition, this is a damper.

dw is a natural frequency for the system that gets input energy then amplify s itself.

in engineering terms you have a spring, mass, damper system.

bigger tires are more mass which lowers the frequency the steering stabilizer is the damper to absorb the energy, so maybe a bigger damper is needed.

unless something is loose, or a bad bushing then the stiffness changes (spring rate) and the only way to fix this is to find it.

Check your track bar mount on the axle maybe it is close to failing in other works has a crack in it. this would change the stiffness of the system (spring rate)

check your track arm bushings. It is obvious that they are the problem.

You said the problem happened after the lift install. well springs don't cause it, shocks sure dont, sway bar links? nope. track arms? we all know they do!!! so the problem is likely the bolt is loose or the bushing is gone. IMO. it could have an oblonged bushing if it has been happening much/long. I would unbolt the front track arm and look at the bushings.

It wouldn't hurt to double check the track arm bushings and see if they are ovaled.

If your bottom side is clean then inspect your axle mounts for track arm bracket cracks, ovaled hole, etc. If you see a hairline crack try running your fingernail across the crack. If it grabs you may well have a real problem. You could sand it to bare metal and take a good look at it. The weld beads might be cracking. If so a touch up with the weld rod and then look at getting gussets to prevent it from happening in the first place.

everything is as tight as it should be, theres absolutely no play in the trackbar. ill go check the bushings now, all this work was only done back in November, i hope this is something as simple as the bushings on the track bar.

other than that welds are all fine, tires are in great shape. be back in a sec

i don't have adj control arms as i was under the impression that with a very small spring lift such as mine does not need them, at least not on a 4 door.

any who i looked at the bushings, didn't have time to pull the bar, maybe later tonight but i could see that the bushing on the end attached to the axle has some cracking and is miss shaped a little bit. if this is the case it worries me that the bushing went bad that quickly.

one other thing that i was thingking of while i was out there is how much play is too much play for my tie rod and drag link. and by play i mean the up and down swivle of them their bushings look fine even though theres over 30k on them.

if i get the trackbar off later and get a better look ill try and get some pics of how its looking.

I bet the bolt on the track arm was not tight enough, and that caused the DW from it moving around. The moving around caused the failure of the bushing. Just my theory.

What do you mean by tie rod, drag link play? and where exactly?
