This past weekend I did a cat-back and a Tuffy hood lock. Why the hood lock you ask? Because this coming weekend my Ripp kit goes in It's still going to be a daily driver but I hope to make it out to more events/meets/etc... now that my Jeep will at least be a little interesting. Then next year when my stock tires finally wear out I'll do a little lift and 35s and will be able to do more offroad.

So if anyone is driving around CT and notices a white 2dr Rubicon with something strange in the grill in the near future that'd be me
Very cool! Who is doing the install?

I live in a condo complex and park in a carport. I also park in downtown Hartford (in a garage, but it's a public garage). It wouldn't be too much work to undo a few bolts and walk away with the supercharger which is a pretty expensive part. And for a $40 part it seemed worth the peace of mind.

Me (with my brother around for support just in case). It's actually pretty straightforward. Remove intake manifold, replace injectors, replace spark plugs, bolt on supercharger, run intercooler piping, tap a few vac lines, reflash the ecu, and voila! Lots of steps that need to be done carefully and will take a few hours but not a super complicated install. The easy install was one of the reasons I decided to get it.

Jred321 I live in Ct also, I'd be interested in checking out the supercharger some time if you'd be cool with that? Or if you need a hand let me know. I have been curious about possibly investing in one.

Yea definitely once it's in I'd be happy to meet somewhere. Hopefully the install goes smoothly so it could be any time after this weekend. I actually go to the dog park in South Windsor all of the time so if you ever see me around feel free to flag me down

I've read that the superchargers add about 80hp, I'm curious what would win in a drag race, a supercharged 3.8 or a N/A 3.6 Pentastar. Let me know if you find that out. Or if your down in the Stamford area, we could perform our own test. I'd actually think it be close with the 3.8 beating the 3.6 out of the hole then just the 3.6 keeping up.

Doing a little dyno sheet racing says the supercharged 3.8 should win. From Ripp's website, the stock 3.8 makes 149whp and the supercharged version makes 260whp. The stock 3.6 makes 189whp and it's looking like well north of 300whp when supercharged (doesn't seem like the kit is finalized yet). Even assuming some marketing inflation the 260whp vs 189whp difference is pretty decent so the 3.8 should win.

Neither of them is a race car though so they're both still slow in the grand scheme of things. I'm more looking at it as bringing the Jeep up to normal modern car speeds than making it fast.

And it's in Couldn't keep my hood lock because the top bracket for the intercooler would need to go right through the lock to work (so if anyone wants one I have a cheap one ). Initial impressions are it has a lot more top end and is much more responsive throughout the range. The install took longer than I thought it would but doing it again would be much much faster (since I wouldn't make stupid mistakes that caused me to undo what I had just done then redo it).
