JK to replace XJ
Well, my old mostly-stock '92 XJ finally crapped out on me a couple weeks ago (father-in-law and I spent a weekend trying to figure out what was wrong with it... transmission maybe, or something in the fuel system... we couldn't figure it out
, and it's not worth the money to pay someone else to). It was my first Jeep (drove a '76 Checker Cab and an '89 Caprice cop car before that) and it served me well. Bought it about 5 years ago for $1,400 with 150k miles on it, drove it 'til it had 192k and never had to put much money into it, so I can't complain. It ran great around town, and was capable enough for the occasional light off-roading. We called it the "JP" (formerly the "Jep") because right after I got it, I was driving on the highway and one of the E's flew up and took a nice little chunk out of the windshield... the other E fell off a few years later while shutting the hood. This was the JP (before I put some slightly larger tires on her...):

I'm definitely going to miss it (still have it right now, but I'm going to try and sell it to someone who might have the time and know-how to mess around with it and get it running again... or maybe someone who wants it for parts...). Anyway, had to go on a search for something to drive, and I definitely wanted another Jeep. So I was thrilled when I found my new JK not too far from where I live!
It's an '07 Rescue Green X with 22k miles, automatic (would have liked a 6-speed, but I found this one and couldn't pass up the deal), soft top, and pretty much plain-jane stock. Hope to put some slight mods on it when I get over the shock of having shelled out the cash for the Jeep itself (never paid more than $4k for a vehicle before in my life)... I'm thinking mostly about tires right now, but if I spend too much time on this forum, who knows what I'll buy. So here it is (pic's from the dealer... haven't been able to take any of my own yet...):

I'm loving it so far (and looking forward to getting it off-road). This forum has been really helpful for tips, info, etc.
Thanks!
