Default Looking to buy

Just wanted to introduce myself. I dont own a JK as of yet. I joined this site to browse around look at some great looking JK's and get some ideas and what not.
Its time to get rid of the Audi A4.
I've been looking at getting a pre-owned 07 or 08, 4 door Sahara. It would be my daily driver in L.A. Not a lot of off road action here but Im going to need that 4x4 for getting up to the Mountains. That and having the top off all summer for the beach.
I hope to find a lot more info picking the brains of you gurus!

Are there any huge differences between the the 07-08 Saharas? I noticed the bumpers but I was wondering if there might be more internal?
Also when looking for a jeep I see theres some 09's that have "dual top" group. Both the Freedom top and a soft top? Is this pretty handy or is it a pain in the rear? Is this even possible on the 07-08's?

Welcome to the forum. I have a Sahara '08 which has served me well as a daily driver. I have the dual top option which I insisted on when I was looking. In hind sight I would have bought one with the soft top only. I use the soft top 10 months out of the year. The hard top takes up valuable space in the garage and they have a tendancy to leak. I have had mine in 3 times to fix the problem, all under warranty, but still a pain in the rear. If you have any off road aspirations in the future, you can get a new Rubicon for less than I paid for my Sahara in Sept 07 and get 0% to boot.

Welcome to the site.

There's not too much of a difference. The only thing I can think of besides the bumper caps is that I think they downgraded the high output alternator from the 07 to 08 model.

Thanks for the advice on the tops 47DRVR. I think the soft top is something I will aim for then.

tgrt: Do you know if there where any issues with the older altanator? Or why they switched those out?

Thanks for the friendly welcome guys.
