Default Lug Nut Issue

So I got my JK a few months ago, and I’ve just started doing some work to it. I realized that I can’t take off one of the lug nuts on each wheel. Each wheel has lug nuts that all look exactly the same, but one lug on each wheel has a “G” engraved in it. That is the one that I can’t fit any socket on. It looks the same as all the lug nuts, except I can’t fit anything on it to take it off. If anybody knows what kind of lug nuts these are, or any way of taking these lug nuts out, please let me know!!!

Get a socket that's just a bit too snug, hammer away, then take it off with an impact gun. I've had good luck with the loglug nut extractors from AutoZone but I think they're $15 each. They're sharp inside and they'll crunch down on the lug nut and pull it right off.

I tried using a smaller lug nut and hammering it on, no luck, just stripped the lug. I’m guessing whoever had the Jeep before me used cheap lugs from China or something lol. I will try the lug but extractors next though. Wish me luck!

Going to guess you don't have a welder, or else you could easily weld a bolt to the tip of that and then simply use a socket on the bolt. It's ugly, but it works well in a pinch.

So all the other lugs used the same key, but those "G" lugs did not? looks like a simple 6-spline key.

Were all the other lugs splined like the one in the pic? If not,, a lot of times a tire shop will have the splined socket to fit. I would do this before I got too carried away with trying to force it off.

I think those are wheel locks. A tire shop will have something to fit it and I bet auto parts places will too. I see all kinds on line and just like the typical kind you have a adapter that fits on it to use the regular lug wrench. have you looked in the glove box or the back where the jack is for the adapter?

I have checked everywhere. No adaptor. Crazy how somebody would sell a car with wheel locks and not give the key to the new owner smh.

as mentioned by someone else above.....most big box tire stores have a boat load of those 6-spline adapters sitting around cuz they forget to give them back to customers. They'd likely toss one your way if you asked. Tell em you think you lost yours somewhere.

Check the glovebox, center console, and especially in the back storage under the floor plus the area where the jack is stored. Most people will hide the special socket around the jack in case they have a flat.
