Any tips on Boise?
If we find good trails in Boise NP we will stay up to a month, we have reservations in Moab for the month of October, then on to Az for the winter. We are a young 63 years old and enjoy jeepin!
Fredski,
Welcome to Idaho! If you are going to be based out of Mountain Home you could go North on Hwy 20 and go to Sawtooth National Forest. Go past fancy, but nice, Sun Valley/Ketchum and go to Stanley and Redfish Lake. North of Stanley is a ghost town called Custer and Bonanza. Very cool if you like old mining towns, and I think there is a dredge you can go through. A lot of times they dress up and show people around the town.
Also, at the hwy20/hwy75 split to go to Sun Valley you can go right a few miles and check out the Shoshone Ice Caves.
Boise National Forest is big so you kind of have to pick what you wanna do. Again, lots of old mining towns. Placerville is secluded and Idaho City is interesting, but right off the hwy. From Idaho City you can hit a lot of trails to various lookouts and a lot of creeks/rivers.
Sorry, not trail specific, but just so much to see. You will go from 2500ft elevation to 9000ft in no time if you want.
Enjoy Idaho! Thanks for your service to this country!

Thanks from me too, I've been here a couple months now and want to get a couple more trails in before deploying next month. Need to get my PSC rockers on too. Maybe I'll see you around fredski.
Thanks for your service and wish you the best wherever you go.
Of less importance, what areas have you been jeepin in? I am still looking for good trails.
I am now going to be in the area of Mountain Home around aug. 24th
Go north to the Cascade area and get whpony96 to show you Yellowpine.

We are going to drive up Sat. the the 21st to Cascade and check out Arrowhead Rv park. If it looks good we will make reservations for at least a week. If we stay there and if anyone would like, we can meet some day for a ride.
I will check back here Sunday .
