Any tips on Boise?
We will be there from the first to the 31st. at Moab Rim Camppark, it is just south of town on the main drag (rt. 191) I think. My Cell # is 216-401-4206, call when you are near.
We spent 3 weeks there last Oct. and had fun. We are not experts on the area but have founds some nice rides. Also have the Charles A. Wells guide to Moab that lists all the trails so don't buy one! Also have a Lowrance GPS system so we can hit all the turns at the right place.
Last year the weather was nice enough to have the front half of the top off for most of the rides. 65 to 75 degrees, so outside lunches were great were also.
Looking forward to seeing you and maybe more folks there in Oct. The more folks the better

We are up for whatever trail you are comfortable with, the TJ is just a TJ with a 4' lift and 33's but should be capable enough with some JK help if need be. I also have the Wells book and have been trying to decide on what trail I'd like to take. I am happy to leave that choice to you and just tag along or as you say maybe we will find a more experienced group to tag along with.
The weather should be nice as you say and when we aren't on the trail I intend to get out on the golf course. The Moab course is beautiful and well maintained FYI for those golfers out there.
I have your cell phone punched into mine and I will give you mine if you need it. 208-539-4907.
We will see you there!
Fredski,
Welcome to Idaho! If you are going to be based out of Mountain Home you could go North on Hwy 20 and go to Sawtooth National Forest. Go past fancy, but nice, Sun Valley/Ketchum and go to Stanley and Redfish Lake. North of Stanley is a ghost town called Custer and Bonanza. Very cool if you like old mining towns, and I think there is a dredge you can go through. A lot of times they dress up and show people around the town.
Also, at the hwy20/hwy75 split to go to Sun Valley you can go right a few miles and check out the Shoshone Ice Caves.
Boise National Forest is big so you kind of have to pick what you wanna do. Again, lots of old mining towns. Placerville is secluded and Idaho City is interesting, but right off the hwy. From Idaho City you can hit a lot of trails to various lookouts and a lot of creeks/rivers.
Sorry, not trail specific, but just so much to see. You will go from 2500ft elevation to 9000ft in no time if you want.
Enjoy Idaho! Thanks for your service to this country!

There will be 3 rigs coming along. This will be a all day run so bring some lunch and snacks. However you get the shorter day than the rest of us we will be traveling up from Nampa ID to Cascade. Once we have the leave and meat locations and times sorted out we will let you know as well.
