Default Anyone from Bend, Oregon?

Just wanted to see if there is anyone here from Bend, Oregon or surrounding areas. Want to move up there sometime in the future and was wondering what the trails are like up there.

I am in central oregon (bend, redmond) There are tons of trails up here. There is everything from rock crawling, mudding, snow runs, etc... or just take a trip out in the desert. Pretty much everywhere has pretty bad ass views too.

My wife and I went to Bend for a week for vacation a few years ago and have been trying to move ever since. It's beautiful up there and housing prices are reasonable. Just waiting on a transfer with my job. Hope it comes through soon cuz I am over So. Cal.

I haven't been to Bend, I'll have to check it out. My inlaws live in Oregon. They need help with their property and they are getting very old. We want them to stay in their house til they die (not some crappy nursing home) so we're remodeling a cabin on their property to take care of them. We're joining the Search & Rescue team up there since I'm on the SAR team here. My tax man said Oregon taxes tend to hit the lower income more. They don't have sales tax but you end up paying in personal income tax. I also love the DMV fees. You pay $86 and that's for TWO years. My Jeep is due in August and here it's over $300 for ONE year! You'll want to transfer your insurance 2-3 weeks ahead of time as an Oregon insurance policy is different. We're getting our Oregon driver's licenses next week. You need a proof of address (I suggest you get a PO Box ahead of time). I'm using our bank statement (I opened up a bank account up there ahead of time) and my insurance policy. Everything else is a piece of cake. I hope you get to move soon!

Thanks for the info. How are insurance prices compared to here?

Oregon insurance isn't much cheaper than Cali. I haven't transferred my Jeep over yet, just my husbands Xterra. His is $47 a month (full coverage, liab. limits 100/300, $1000 deductibles) Oregon has a mandatory $15000 personal injury addition that Cali doesn't have.
